The Commission has decided to insert Greece back in the list of “marketable risk” countries for short-term export credit insurance as of 1 January 2020. Therefore, short-term export credit risks towards Greece will be considered again as marketable to be covered by private insurers.
The Commission removed Greece from this list in 2013 due to the difficult economic situation and the lack of insurance capacity for credit risks related to exports to Greece. The reintroduction of the country in the list of ‘marketable risk’ countries is based on the results of a public consultation carried out by the Commission and takes into account the relevant indicators of Greece’s continued economic normalisation.
