Analysis: “Oops You Did It Again: AG Rantos advises the Court of Justice to declare that once again Hungary has failed to fulfil its obligations under EU Asylum Law” by Silvia Bartolini

Last Thursday, Advocate General (AG) Rantos delivered his much-awaited Opinion in the case European Commission v Hungary (C-821/19) in which he advises the Court of Justice to declare that Hungary has once again failed to fulfil its obligations under EU asylum law. This is due to the fact that this time, it enacted a set of legislative measures also known as the ‘Stop Soros’ Law that further restrict access to international protection and criminalise the activity of providing - in an organised manner - assistance to applicants for international protection.
