On 30 October 2020 the Commission published a proposal for a Regulation establishing the European Union Single Window Environment for Customs (COM(2020) 673 final).
This initiative comes a long way. It was in 1987 when the Single Administrative Document replaced hundreds of national customs declaration forms. Since then, the common rulebook for customs legislation became uniform customs legislation, with increasingly harmonised customs formalities and procedures.
