Big Data and Public Health in the EU: European Medicines Agency presents Workplan

The EU envisages steps towards the use of Big Data in public health, which could include for example the utilisation of data analytics and predictive methods in medicine based on large amounts of data such as to detect or prevent disease at an earlier stage, and promote access to health services and continuity of care across Member State’s borders. Health technology investment as part of a Digital Single Market has also been considered by the EU from a competitive aspect.
