Classified Information in the EU: Court of Auditors Decision on how to ensure it remains secure
The Court of Auditors' Decision laying down the basic principles and minimum security rules for protecting EU classified information (41/2021) that it has access to in order to fulfil its mandate has been published.
The Decision sets out appropriate security measures that can guarantee ‘a high level of protection for that information’ and which are equivalent to similar rules adopted by the other EU organs that have access to such information.
Those security measures include physical and digital security measures, treatment according to the classification level of information, the implementation of providing information on a ‘need-to-know’ basis, employment of security personnel, and more.
