Commission adopts Communication on key actions to beat the COVID-19 pandemic

The European Commission has adopted a Communication on ‘A united front to beat COVID-19’, in which it calls on Member States to speed up the vaccination process and continue to apply other measures to contain the spread of the third wave of COVID-19. Overall, it sets out the decisions and coordinated approach that will be discussed in the European Council meeting that will take place on 21 January.

With regard to the vaccination process, the Commission notes that vaccination is not a race between countries, and that so far over five million vaccines have been administered in the EU. It is nonetheless seeking to speed up the roll-out in order to meet the following objectives:
