Commission appoints two Director-Generals for the departments of Agriculture and Rural Development, and Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs
Today, the European Commission has decided to appoint two new Director-Generals:
- A Director-General for the Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRI). The selected candidate is Mr Wolfgang Burtscher, former Director in DG Agriculture and Rural Development (from 2000) and Deputy Director-General of the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (from 2009).
- A Director-General for the Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (GROW). The selected candidate is Ms Kerstin Jorna, Deputy Director-General of the Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs (from 2016) and who previously performed senior management tasks in the Directorate-General for Internal Market and in DG GROW.
The appointments, which will take effect on 1 April 2020, have been done following a full selection procedure on the basis of merit in accordance with the Commission’s rules and procedures for senior managers.
