Commission authorises Member States to extend the deadline for submission of CAP payment applications in response to the COVID-19 crisis

Today, the European Commission has made public its decision to authorise Member States to grant a one-month extension to the deadline for farmers to submit their applications for direct payments and certain rural development payments.

This measure has been adopted following an initial request from the Italian authorities in the face of an unprecedented crisis linked to the COVID-19 pandemic. The extension will be possible for all eligible farmers in all Member States, but it will depend on whether each Member State makes use of the possibility. Where it is used, the new deadline for submitting applications will be 15 June 2020 instead of 15 May.

For more information, read the Commission’s press release.
