Commission clears acquisition of Aleris divestment business

The Belgian Aleris Divestment Business (manufacturer and seller) can officially be acquired by Singaporean Liberty House Group Pte Ltd (metals recycling and a manufacturer), approval having now been given by the Commission.

Although there was a vertical link found between the overlap in activities – production of aluminium flat rolled products and a supply of aluminium slabs – the Commission found this was on a limited scale, and concluded that there were no competition concerns arising from the acquisition.

There is a separate ongoing assessment concerning Liberty’s purchasing of the same business (M.9076 – Novelis/Aleris).
