Commission finds Portuguese nuclear centre in breach of Euratom Treaty: decision published

Official publication has been made of Commission Decision (Euratom) 2021/1802, which on 10 June 2021 found that the Portuguese National Nuclear Research Centre had infringed Article 78(1) and 79 of the Euratom Treaty, along with several provisions of Euratom Safeguards Regulation 302/2005.

According to the Commission, the reason for the infringement is not having communicated to the Commission in a timely manner the correct and complete declaration of basic technical characteristics and not having maintained a reliable accountancy system capable of reporting complete inventory of the nuclear materials of the Centre.
