Commission fines Sigma-Aldrich for providing incorrect information during Merck takeover investigation
The European Commission has fined Sigma-Aldrich for providing incorrect or misleading information during the Commission’s investigation of Merck’s acquisition of Sigma-Aldrich. The fine amounts to 7.5 million euros.
Merck’s plan to acquire Sigma-Aldrich was approved by the Commission in June 2015, subject to the divestiture of certain Sigma-Aldrich assets. Nonetheless, in this divestment process, an innovation project developed for products relating to the divestment business was not properly disclosed to the Commision.
