Commission imposes fine for restriction on film merchandise sales

Several companies including NBCUniversal LLC have been fined over 14 million EUR by the Commission. This is due to the restriction by those companies on sales of products including Minions, Jurassic World, and others, in the EEA, which partitioned the Single Market, to the detriment of consumers.

The Commission’s investigation into this commenced in June 2017, looking at licensing and distribution practices to assess whether an illegal restriction of traders making sales freely within the EU Single Market was taking place.

For more details on the Commission’s reasons for the decision to impose this fine, the press release can be accessed here.
