Commission proposes 2022 quotas on fish stocks in the Atlantic Ocean, Kattegat and Skagerrak 

The European Commission has published its proposal for fishing opportunities in the Atlantic Ocean, Kattegat and Skagerrak for 2022, with a final version to be adopted by the EU fisheries ministers at the Council this December. 

With its proposal, the Commission presented 23 total allowable catches (TACs) for the fish stocks in the EU waters, setting a responsible catch limit according to the scientific advice given by the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES). In particular, the Commission proposed a decrease of more than -20% for four stocks and an increase for five stocks, as well as suggested to maintain the ban on cod-targeting fishery in Kattegat and keep the by-catch allowance.
