Council adopts conclusions on resilience and crisis response

The Council of the EU adopted conclusions yesterday on enhancing preparedness, response capability, and resilience to future crises.

The conclusions were drafted by the Slovenian presidency, which has listed as a top priority of its programme the enhancement of the EU’s resilience and strategic autonomy, including by making it better equipped and less dependent on external players in order to face crises such as pandemics or cyber-attacks.

The Council has now called for the strengthening of the single market to avoid disruptions, including to key EU supply chains and economic sectors, such as pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and semiconductors. It also stresses that in the future, the EU will need an improved cross-sectora
