
Council approves the revised rules for the use of hired vehicles for goods transport
The Council has approved the revised rules for the use of hired road vehicles for the transport of goods. This reform is part of the Mobility Package I, and aims to clarify the current legal regime, harmonise the legal framework, and ease the restrictions on the use of such vehicles.
The Council and the European Parliament reached a political agreement on the proposal on 26 October 2021, deciding to preclude Member States from restricting the use of a vehicle hired by a haulage company established in another Member State if the company complies with that Member State’s laws.
