Council extends sanctions on three entities and seven individuals for breaches of rule of law in Nicaragua

The Council of the EU has imposed restrictive measures on seven more individuals and three entities responsible for serious human rights violations in Nicaragua, supporting the fraudulent presidential and parliamentary elections, and/or whose actions undermined democracy or the rule of law.

The newly sanctioned individuals include family members of President Daniel Ortega and Vice-President Rosario Murillo and the three entities are the National Police of Nicaragua, the Supreme Electoral Council, and the company overseeing telecommunications and postal services.
