Council to enter negotiations with Parliament on EU framework on adequate minimum wages
The Council of the EU has agreed on a mandate for negotiations on a draft law setting a procedural framework to promote a better and more effective minimum wage protection in all Member States.
The draft directive proposes a framework which intends:To promote adequate levels of statutory minimum wages: Member States with statutory minimum wages are tasked to put a procedural framework in place to set and update minimum wages according to a stable and clear criteria. To promote collective bargaining on wage setting: if a country’s collective bargaining coverage is below 70%, it should also establish an action plan to promote collective bargaining.
