Court of Justice to rule on the scope of principle of mutual trust when examining applicant’s asylum request 

The Court of Justice will be ruling on the request for a preliminary ruling lodged by a court in the Netherlands in G v Staatssecretaris van Justitie en Veiligheid (C-614/21) concerning the interpretation of the Dublin Regulation that sets out the criteria for determining the Member State responsible for examining an application for international protection lodged by a third-country national or a stateless person.

The authorities in the Netherlands did not examine the applicant’s asylum application because they considered Malta responsible for doing so. The asylum seeker contested that decision because he fears that if he is transferred to Malta he will be in a situation that is contrary to Article 4 of the Charter of Fundamental
