COVID-19: Council adopts measures to help the most deprived EU citizens

The Council has adopted new rules (by written procedure) intended to minimise the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the most deprived EU citizens by amending the Regulation 223/2014 on the Fund for European Aid to the Most Deprived (FEAD).

The new act, currently entitled ‘Regulation as regards the introduction of specific measures for addressing the outbreak of COVID-19’ provides for:

A temporary possibility of 100% co-financing from the EU budget and for costs to be eligible in cases where the delivery of food or basic material assistance is delayed, or where operations are suspended or not fully implemented; Expenditure for crisis response operations, deemed eligible as of 1 February 2020; The possibility of delivering fo
