Developments regarding exchange of information between the EU and Morocco
The Council has adopted a decision on the EU’s position in relations between the EU and Morocco, for the exchange of information to be provided to evaluate the Euro-Mediterranean Agreement – the Association Agreement between the countries of 1 March 2000.
The Decision is expected to be described as: ‘Council Decision establishing the position to be adopted on behalf of the European Union within the Association Committee set up by the Euro-Mediterranean Agreement establishing an association between the European Communities and their Member States, of the one part, and the Kingdom of Morocco, of the other part, concerning the exchange of information for the purpose of evaluating the impact of the Agreement in the form of an Exchange of Letters on the amendment of the Euro-Mediterranean Agreement’.
The relevant information to be provided by Morocco will be on, inter alia, socio-economic and environmental statistics, information on the main export sectors of the economy, by type of product, the area farmed and volume harvest, exports to the EU, economic activities of local operators, employment, and sustainable management of resources.
The relevant information to be provided by the EU includes information on trade in products exported to the Kingdom of Morocco by customs code and in terms of volume and value, as well as, where such data are available, on the production of specific products
Publication of the Council Decision in the Official Journal has been requested and is pending.
