ECtHR: New edition of the Rules of Court published and applicable as of 18 October 2021

The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has published a new version of its Rules of Court, which incorporates the amendments made by the Plenary Court on 11 October 2021.

The changes concern the organisation and proceedings before the ECtHR’s Grand Chamber. More specifically, they concern the composition of the Grand Chamber (Rule 24(2)), the role of substitute judges (Rule 24(3)) and the proceedings on requests for an advisory opinion under Protocol No. 16 (Rules 24(2)(g), 93(1)(1) and 94(4) to 94(6)).

The new edition of the Rules of Court entered into force on 18 October 2021.
