Estonia to recover unlawful State aid granted to AS Tartu Agro
A negative decision has been made by the Commission in respect of aid granted by the Estonian Ministry of Rural Affairs. That aid was provided through the renting of agricultural land at a rate below market price since 2000 to AS Tartu Agro, a private company in Estonia producing milk, meat and cereals.
The Commission’s in-depth investigation into a complaint revealed that the lease fee being below market price gave an unfair and selective advantage to that private company over its competitors, making it incompatible aid under the EU’s State aid rules.
