EUIPO publishes new Decision on technical requirements for annexes submitted on data carriers

Yesterday, the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) publicly announced the adoption by its Executive Director of Decision EX-20-20 on the technical requirements for annexes submitted on data carriers.

This Decision was adopted on 22 December 2020 and will enter into force on 1 March 2021. It repeals the previous Decision EX-17-6 and introduces the following changes by comparison with pre-existing rules on the matter:

 CDs and DVDs will no longer be considered as an acceptable ‘format’ of data carrier, although USB flash drives, pen drives or similar USB type memory units will continue to be allowed. The acceptable file size of an individual annex as submitted on a data carrier will be reduced to 20MB, to be al
