European Council conclusions: main takeaways

Yesterday, the European Council met in Brussels to discuss several issues including the fight against COVID-19, energy prices and external relations.

With regard to COVID-19, the European Council agreed on the need to step up efforts to overcome vaccine hesitancy and for further coordination to facilitate free movement both within the EU and when traveling into it from third countries. 

Concerning energy prices, the European Council refused to endorse the approach of several Member States such as France or Spain, who were advocating for a swift intervention in the market at the EU level.
