European Economic Area Council videoconference: main takeaways

Yesterday, on 18 November 2020, the members of the EEA Council held a video conference to discuss the overall functioning of the Agreement on the European Economic Area (EEA Agreement), to hold an orientation debate on Europe's Digital Future, and to discuss other pressing issues affecting the EEA Area.

Following the videoconference, members of the EEA Council adopted a joint statement underlining the following:

The need for increased solidarity and for close cooperation between the EU and the EEA EFTA States to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. EEA Council members also commended that the European Commission’s COVID-19 recovery efforts put emphasis on ensuring that the Internal Market works properly again, whilst becoming greener
