European Ombudsman publishes annual report

The European Ombudsman’s 2020 annual report has been published, providing detailed insight into how EU institutions responded to the COVID-19 crisis.

The report highlights that, as in other years, complaints related to transparency and accountability accounted for the biggest proportion of inquiries examined by the Ombudsman, amounting to 25%.

In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic response by EU institutions, the Ombudsman sent information-gathering requests to several EU institutions, including the European Medicines Agency (EMA), the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Commission.
