Frontex: internal inquiry into recent incidents launched

The European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) has announced that it has launched an internal inquiry into alleged incidents recently reported by the media concerning the activities of its officers at Greece’s external borders.

The internal inquiry will look into accusations of violations of fundamental rights and of the Frontex Code of Conduct by deployed officers, who allegedly pushed potential asylum seekers off the Greek coast. Frontex has announced that, up to now, the ongoing inquiry has not found documents or other materials to substantiate such accusations.
