General Court: need to await outcome of criminal trial in staff disciplinary cases is not a general principle of EU law

The General Court, sitting in Extended Composition, rendered its judgment in staff case DI v ECB (T-514/19), dismissing an action by which the applicant sought his reinstatement after criminal proceedings involving him were closed. 

The case originated from the Public Prosecutor’s indictment of the applicant, a European Central Bank (ECB) official, who faced fraud and forgery of documents charges for allegedly having improperly claimed reimbursement of 71 invoices for physiotherapy treatment through the company managing the ECB’s health insurance scheme.
