Guidance on how to implement EU rules on driver working times and resting conditions from the Commission

Information to Member State-authorities, enforcers, and operators in the transport sector on how to implement certain social provisions of the EU’s Mobility Package (driver working times and resting conditions) that apply as of 20 August 2020 has been provided today by the European Commission in the form of Questions and Answers.

It addresses the most ‘pressing’ matters, on practical issues such as what constitutes the ‘return of a driver’ to his or her home and who is responsible for the costs; the evidence that must be provided to show a driver has not taken his or her rest in the vehicle, and how gender-friendly accommodation can be accessed; the ferry rule; reduced weekly rests; exceptionally allowing driving time to be exceed
