High-capacity 5G network infrastructure: Implementing Regulation
As part of the EU’s agenda for digital transformation and connectivity, the Commission has adopted an Implementing Regulation on small-area wireless access points: crucial for the deployment of 5G networks for high-capacity, increased coverage, and advanced connection speeds. This has variously been described as important for the EU’s COVID-19 recovery process, and for education and training.
The Commission states that this is part of the new European Electronic Communications Code, which entered into force on 21 December 2018, and which aims to modernise the current EU telecoms rules, and comes pursuant to several public consultations.
