Inadequate response to domestic violence and cyberbullying allegations: breach of ECHR
Today, the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) gave its judgment in the case Buturugă v. Romania (application no. 56867/15). It declared that the Romanian authorities had violated the prohibition of inhuman or degrading treatment in Article 3 of the European Convention of Human Rights (ECHR) as well as the right to respect for private and family life and for the correspondence under Article 8 ECHR due to failure to respond to a woman’s complaints of domestic violence and cyberbullying by her former husband.
