Measure for Switzerland and Liechtenstein to access Eurodac for law enforcement

In order to strengthen cooperation in the prevention, detection and investigation of terrorist offences between Switzerland and Liechtenstein and the EU, there are two new EU law instruments to allow law enforcement authorities from those countries to request the comparison of fingerprint data the Eurodac Central System holds from other participating states (in implementation of Regulation 603/2013). It is noted that the UK and Ireland are bound by that Regulation, but that Denmark is not, and is therefore not a participating state (see Articles 1 and 2 of Protocol 22 annexed to the treaties on Denmark’s position).
