Member States not required to limit the areas for operators to carry out E&P activities subject to conditions: Court of Justice judgment

In Regione Puglia (C-110/20), the Court of Justice ruled that Member States may grant several licenses to the same operator for the prospection, exploration and production of hydrocarbons (E&P activities), and that therefore they are not compelled to limit such areas, provided that they ensure non-discriminatory access for all operators and assesses the cumulative effect of projects likely to have significant effects on the environment.
