New phase in relationship between EU and Kazakhstan
Pursuant to the 17th annual meeting of the Cooperation Council between the EU and Kazakhstan held on 20 January in Brussels, and as a sign of deepening of ties between the parties, strengthening bilateral relations, and greater political dialogue, a Council Decision has been published in the Official Journal today approving the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement.
The EPCA governs trade and economic relations between the EU and its Member States and Kazakhstan, and was signed in 2015. Kazakhstan is the first Central Asian partner to have concluded an EPCA with the EU, and this EPCA replaces an earlier Partnership and Cooperation Agreement.
