No funding for KEDO: light water reactor nuclear power plants in North Korea

In agreements between Euratom and KEDO, there is a renewed commitment not to provide any funding to KEDO. The Korean Peninsula Energy Development Organisation was originally set up in 1994 by Korea, Japan and the US to construct light water reactor nuclear power plants in North Korea. Those projects were aborted soon after, and are being deconstructed.

See yesterday’s publications in the Official Journal for further information: Council Decisions 2019/1945 and 2019/1946 approving the agreements concluded by the Commission.
