Poland ordered to pay one million euros a day for refusal to suspend Disciplinary Chamber of the Supreme Court

As a result of the lack of appropriate measures introduced by the Polish authorities to suspend the application of the provisions of national legislation relating, in particular, to the areas of jurisdiction of the Disciplinary Chamber of the Supreme Court, Poland was ordered today to pay the European Commission a daily penalty payment in an amount of €1 000 000.

In an Order issued today, the Vice-President of the Court of Justice considered that it was not necessary to assign the case to the Grand Chamber of the Court.
