Public Consultation launched on the European Data Protection Board’s Guidelines on notifying data breaches
The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) has launched a public consultation, seeking feedback and comments on its Guidelines 01/2021, on notifications of data breaches. The consultation will remain open until 2 March 2021.
The guidelines offer guidance and recommendations to help data controllers decide how to handle data breaches and what factors to consider during risk assessment, and include a list of examples that are deemed the most common breach notifications by national supervisory authorities. Advice is provided on how to identify risks, what factors to give special consideration, and identifies good and bad practices.
