Rescue aid provided by Romania to state-owned flag carrier approved by Commission
Romania’s plans to grant a temporary loan to airline TAROM have been approved by the Commission under EU State aid rules and its Guidelines on rescue and restructuring aid to support companies in difficulties for a limited period of time, for an objective of common interest.
Romania notified the Commission of its intention to grant the temporary loan this month.
The airline was in financial difficulty due to a steep increase in operating costs, and without the aid would not be able to fulfil payment obligations and continue to operate.
