Resignation of Executive Director of Frontex and follow-up measures

On 29 April 2022, the Executive Director of Frontex, Fabrice Leggeri, resigned from their post. According to the Conclusions of the Frontex Extraordinary Management Board meeting of 28-29 April 2022, the resignations took place in view of an investigation launched by the European Anti-Fraud Office against three staff members, including the Executive Director.

In view of the Executive Director’s resignation, the Management Board decided that launching further proceedings against the Executive Director in connection with the OLAF report of 15 February 2022 is not necessary anymore, since the outcome of these proceedings will no longer affect the position of the Executive Director.
