Simplification of State aid rules to facilitate EU’s policy priorities and continue notification exemptions under GBER: measure published

The recent decision to simplify EU rules to facilitate the Member States’ granting of State aid without notification to the European Commission, in light of recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and green and digital transitions, has now been made official, being published in the form of Commission Regulation 2021/1237.

The measure amends General Block Exemption Regulation 651/2014 (GBER) on exemption from notification of aid so that certain categories of aid can be declared compatible with the internal market in application of Articles 107 and 108 TFEU.
