State aid and COVID-19: Danish support scheme for mink farmers and related businesses greenlighted by Commission
The European Commission has announced its decision to approve, under State aid rules, a Danish scheme to compensate mink farmers and mink-related businesses for measures taken in the context of the coronavirus outbreak.
The scheme, under which 1.74 billion euros of aid will be provided in the form of direct grants, consists of two measures, namely (i) a compensation scheme addressed to mink farmers for the temporary ban on mink farming imposed by Danish authorities, and (ii) a support scheme addressed to mink farmers and mink-related businesses who are willing to give up their production capacity to the State.
The Commission assessed these measures under Articles 107(2)(b) and 107(3)(b) TFEU respectively, concluding that they were in accordance with State aid rules.
The case number is SA.61945
