The European Court of Auditors and the European Public Prosecutor’s Office entered into an arrangement to enhance cooperation and fight financial crime

The European Court of Auditors (ECA) and the recently established European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) have signed a working arrangement that sets a framework to strengthen their cooperative relationship. The working arrangement, that comes into effect on 3 September 2021, focuses on combating fraud, corruption and other activities that threaten the EU’s financial interest effectively and efficiently. 

The ECA and the EPPO agreed: (i) to cooperate in a timely manner on information and data flows, (ii) for the ECA to set precautionary measures, (iii) to grant access to the EPPO of the ECA’s premises to carry out investigations, (iv) to provide information to the ECA for the purpose of conducting audits, (v) to collaborate on
