World’s first bloc-to-bloc Air Transport Agreement concluded between EU and ASEAN
The European Union, its Member States and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) concluded negotiations on a Comprehensive Air Transport Agreement (AE CATA) on 2 June 2021, at an Extraordinary ASEAN-EU Senior Transport Officials Meeting.
Under this agreement, airlines operating in the 37 ASEAN States and in the EU will be less limited in operating cargo and passenger services between both blocs. Moreover, airlines will be entitled to operate up to 14 passenger services per week, and any number of cargo flights via any third country.
