Síofra O’Leary elected as President of European Court of Human Rights 

The European Court of Human Rights has today elected Síofra O’Leary (Ireland) as its new President, succeeding Robert Spano (Iceland). She will take up office on 1 November 2022.

Síofra O’Leary is the first female President of the European Court of Human Rights. She has been a judge at the Court since 2 July 2015 and Vice-President of the Court since 2 January 2022.
