UPL Europe and Indofil Industries challenge Commission’s non-renewal of mancozeb: action published

UBL Europe of the UK, and Indofil Industries of the Netherlands, have challenged before the General Court (T-742/20) the Commission’s non-renewal of the approval of the active substance mancozeb under the Plant Protection Regulation (1107/2009): today, official publication has been made of the action.

Mancozeb is a fungicide useful against a wide range of fungus affecting ornamental plants, crops, and fruits, although its effectiveness is compromised by its associated toxic effects in both animals and humans. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) recently concluded, following a peer review of its pesticide risk assessment of the substance, that the consumer risk assessment could not be finalised because of identified data gaps
